D-Day + 337: More have been done...

to Jade Spring though I thought the progress was rather slow. On the other hand, it buys me more time to save up for the renovation. Now even phase 2 has begun construction, but with a different contractor. Most probably the 2 phases will TOP together. Hopefully the quality of work will not be hit by the economic downturn. Here are some pictorial updates.

D-Day + 279: More works...

... are being done to Jade Spring. It seems that they are only working on the phase 1 site. I know the residents nearby would hate that, but I'm sorry to be selfish, i really can't wait for the piling to start!

D-Day + 219: Arrived early..

... at HDB today. Registered and waited patiently for our number to be called. Keeps on flipping through the documents to confirm that I have brought everything required. The staff serving us is an interesting auntie. She talks very sloowwww. Though my guess is that she wants to make sure we catch everything she says, but I still find her interesting and a joy to listen too. Dooon't yooouuu agreeee?

Why...

... is Yishun Ring Road (in Red) called a Ring Road? As its name suggest, it ring-up all major neighbourhoods of Yishun Town.

Green - Neighbourhood 1. Host Chong Pang (son of Nee Soon) city. Lots of good food here!

Yellow - Neighbourhood 2. My current home ground.

Magenta - Neighbourhood 3. Play host to Yishun North NPC.

Purple - Neighbourhood 4. Home to Jade Spring Phase 1 and 2 (Red dot).

Blue - Neighbourhood 6. Near to SAFRA, Yishun Polyclinic and the upcoming KTP Hospital.

Dark Green - Neighbourhood 7. Long for a swim? House the SSC Swimming Complex.

Orange - Neighbourhood 8. Khatib Central. Also have good foods and home to Yishun South NPC and Yishun Stadium.

Pink - Neighbourhood 9. a.k.a Yishun Central. Northpoint, Interchange and more to come.

D-Day + 84: Went to HDB today...

... for our unit selection. We reached there half an hour earlier to collect our Queue number. We sat there and monitor the sales status, hoping that the unit we want will not be chosen by others. We initially chose the unit after studying the floor plan and layout and later realise that the number coincides with the date we got together. But after much studying, we chose another unit as our first choice as it seems it's the only unit with a possible purchase of the corridor recess area. The fort was held tight but unfortunately, we loses it at the last minute. It got chosen by someone 2 to 3 queue number in front of us. Well, everything happens for a reason. Maybe we are destined to get our initial choice. So we hope and pray that it does not get chosen by Mr and Mrs Q-80. It was a gruelling wait and at last, our number flashes on the LED board. Luckily, all is not lost. We got it!

D-Day + 50: Yes! Finally received notification...

... from HDB that our date of selection is on 7 April 2008 @ 1615hrs and our queue number is 81. Really lucky to get such a good number for a first-timer. I found an online forum with an active post on Jade Spring and made a lot friends, whom will be our future neighbours.

The aerial map...

... of Jade Spring Yishun. It lies along Yishun Avenue 11 and Yishun Ring Road. Though it is quite a distance from the Yishun Central, but there are 2 feeder services available so it should not be too bad. And i have been living at the edge of Yishun for the past 20 odd years so taking feeder service is a no sweat for me. Let's get oriented: the lush greenery to the west is Yishun Park. North-East lies the neighbourhood central. To the south is Northbrook Secondary School.

It all started...

... when I saw HDB latest BTO project (Jade Spring) in the newspaper. Yishun is the ideal place for me as I have been living here for the past 22 years and counting. I immediately checked for the exact location and found it to nest right in between our parents' place. I called up dear to inform her and were really excited about it. With the application deadline looming, we felt that the decision made was too hasty as it involves a huge amount of investment. Thus the idea was then cast aside. But after much discussion and consideration, we applied 2 days before the deadline on D-Day, 14 Jan 2008.
